        50 YEAR HIGHLIGHTS

  • RHS founded July 25, 1966

 

  • Incorporated May, 1974

 

  • February 1978, moved the Naturita School House to present site

 

  • May 31, 1980, Old Schoolhouse/Museum Grand Opening

 

  • 1994, added Uravan to State Register of Historic Places; raising over $225,000 for preservation and winning the Stephen Hart Award for this work

 

  • 1994, granted Colorado Historical Society award for Oral History Project

 

  • 2012, leader in creating MCHLAB

 

  • 2015, History Colorado HSA grant for Vestal House preservation

 

  • Current museum collection contains over : 1,700 artifacts, 3,000 photographs, 75 oral history interviews, 5,000 misc. records

  •  

  • 2017 Received Historic Mining Association's Beselme-Orrelle award

        The Rimrocker Historical Society of Western Montrose County is honored to be able to offer this limited edition book, Unaweep to Uravan, written by James Keener and Christine Bebee Keener. The Keener's have given the Rimrockers permission to sell the remainder of their books. We greatly appreciate their generosity for allowing the proceeds from the sale of these great little books to go to the Rimrockers. The Keeners retain all copyrights to their book.
